Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 15, 2026

This website is the online gallery of the late Pittsburgh painter Abe Weiner, maintained by his family. We collect as little personal information as we can, we never sell it, and we don't run ads or trackers. This page explains, in plain language, what we do collect and the rights you have over it. It is written to honor the privacy laws that may apply to our visitors, including the EU and UK GDPR, the ePrivacy rules, California's CCPA/CPRA and other U.S. state privacy laws, Canada's PIPEDA and anti-spam law (CASL), the U.S. COPPA and CAN-SPAM Acts, and Pennsylvania's breach-notification law.

What we collect

If you write to us through the contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you choose to send. That's the only personal information we ask for anywhere on the site.

Like nearly every website, our server keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses and pages requested) to keep the site secure and working. We also measure anonymous, aggregate page performance - not who you are or what you do elsewhere.

What we don't do: no advertising, no selling or sharing of personal information, no social-media trackers, no marketing lists. We only send email to reply to messages you send us first.

Cookies

The public gallery sets no cookies of its own. The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block spam, and Google may set cookies for that purpose under Google's privacy policy. If you don't use the contact form, reCAPTCHA never loads.

Who handles your information

Three service providers process data on our behalf: our host Hetzner (servers located in Germany, in the EU), Google (reCAPTCHA spam protection), and Resend (delivering our email replies). Each is bound by its own privacy commitments; where data leaves the EU it is protected by recognized safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep things

Contact messages and our replies are kept only as long as needed to respond and keep a record of the correspondence, then deleted. Server logs rotate automatically. The paintings and archive materials are kept permanently - they're the point of the site - but they aren't your personal data.

Children

The site is a fine-art archive and isn't directed to children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your rights

Wherever you live, we'll extend you the same courtesy: you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we won't treat you differently for asking. Depending on where you live, these are legal rights:

  • European Economic Area & United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR): access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, plus the right to complain to your data-protection authority. Our legal bases are your consent (when you write to us) and our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA) and other U.S. states (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, and Utah): the rights to know, correct, and delete. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, so there is nothing to opt out of.
  • Canada (PIPEDA): access and correction, and withdrawal of consent. We comply with CASL - we only email you if you emailed us first.

To exercise any of these, use the contact form or email contact@abeweinerpaintings.com. We'll respond within the time the applicable law requires (and usually much sooner).

Security

The site is served entirely over HTTPS, access to its administration is restricted to named, verified accounts, and submissions are rate-limited. If a breach ever affected your personal information, we would notify you as required by law, including Pennsylvania's Breach of Personal Information Notification Act.

Accessibility

We work to keep the site usable by everyone, following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA) consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act. If something on the site is hard for you to use, please tell us and we'll fix it.

Copyright & the artwork

The paintings and their images are the property of the Estate of Abe Weiner. They're shown here for viewing and study; please write for permission before reproducing them. Rights concerns can be sent to contact@abeweinerpaintings.com and will be handled promptly, including under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Changes & contact

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top; a material change will be noted here. Questions about any of it are welcome: contact us or write to contact@abeweinerpaintings.com.
